The dramatic rocks, the powerful ocean, the roaring wind, the wild animals. You cannot contain them. They do not conform. They are what they are - real, raw, beautiful, powerful. Their power comes from exactly how they are, not how they "should" be. They don't ask for permission. They don't make themselves more palatable. They don't justify or explain themselves. They cannot help but be themselves. Let’s stop organising our entire lives around ex Let’s stop organising our entire lives around expectations we never chose. So many women are carrying expectations they never chose - ideas about what a “good mother” should look like, how much she should give, how productive she should be, how guilty she should feel, and how little space she’s supposed to take up. These expectations are powerful because they’re invisible, but they shape how women see and judge themselves, how they use their time and what they think they’re allowed to want. Unfortunately, they are also completely unrealistic and largely unnecessary. And they make us feel like we’re failing or not good enough. There’s nothing wrong with you. The expectations we’ve inherited are the problem. Once you can see them, you can stop organising your entire life around them. Instead, you can question them, release the pressure on yourself and choose a way of living and mothering that honours who you are and what’s most important to you, not the one you’ve been conditioned to perform. I never get tired of this conversation, and I recently ran a workshop to facilitate the honest and empowering conversations women need more of. In the session, women shared their reality — the guilt they carry, the pressure they’ve normalised, the exhaustion they dismiss, the standards they feel chained to. And when those stories were spoken out loud, something shifted. That’s the power of this work. I won’t dish out more shoulds or standards you need to live up to. I will provide space to see what’s true and what can be released. I will help you initiate change. It’s hard to set boundaries when you’re not ev It’s hard to set boundaries when you’re not even sure what you need in the first place — and that’s where so many women get stuck. A lot of the women I work with feel completely disconnected from what they need — not because they don’t care, but because they’ve had no space to listen to themselves for a very long time. They know what’s not working, what feels heavy or wrong and what they are tired of carrying. But when I ask, “What do you want instead?” there’s often a long pause. Because they’ve been in coping mode for years, shaping themselves around other people’s needs. So much of their energy has gone into holding everything (and everyone) together. And when you’ve abandoned yourself for that long, it makes sense that clarity feels out of reach. And protecting your needs? You can’t protect what you haven’t identified. You can’t set boundaries around a life you’ve never been allowed to imagine. Most women aren’t struggling because they “lack discipline” with boundaries. They’re struggling because reconnection has to come before protection. If this lands for you, try this small shift: Instead of asking “What should I do?” ask “What would feel good for me right now?” Not next year or tomorrow. Not forever. Just now. If that question feels impossible to answer, nothing’s wrong — it simply means you’ve been disconnected for a long time, and that’s something we can work with. This is the work I do with women every day: reconnection, clarity, and the boundaries that grow from actually knowing yourself again. Working mums, ever notice how perfectionism sneaks Working mums, ever notice how perfectionism sneaks into your day?⁠ ⁠ Procrastinating on a task you know needs to get done — but your brain keeps saying “not yet” because you’re not really sure if you can get it right. ⁠ Overcomplicating something simple until it becomes a never-ending project (it’s not perfect yet!). ⁠ Researching for hours before making a decision… even though you don’t really have the time. ⁠ Waiting for the “perfect” moment to start — a quiet house, a clear mind, an empty inbox (which almost never happens). ⁠ Perfectionism demands a perfect outcome.⁠ ⁠ But let’s be honest… in the world of working motherhood, perfect outcomes are rare, unrealistic, and often impossible.⁠ ⁠ The fear of not getting it just right can keep you from starting or finishing the things that matter to you — both at work and at home.⁠ ⁠ Here are some practical ways to move forward, even when perfectionism tries to take over:⁠ ⁠ ✨ Break the task down into smaller bite-sized pieces with their own (imperfect) wins — celebrate each one.⁠ ⁠ ✨ Define what “good enough” actually looks like for this task.⁠ ⁠ ✨ Ask someone you trust to keep you accountable for each small milestone.⁠ ⁠ ✨ Ask yourself: “What’s the worst-case scenario if this isn’t perfect? Asking for help sounds simple… until you actuall Asking for help sounds simple… until you actually need to do it. Then it becomes a full emotional event. When you even think about asking, you might feel: 💛 Anxiety — “What if they judge me?” 💛 Guilt — “I don’t want to be a burden.” 💛 Disappointment — especially if they’ve said no before. 💛 Resentment — “Why is it always me holding everything together?” 💛 Grief — when the people you hoped would show up… don’t. 💛 Fear — of being seen as not coping or not capable. And if it’s family — or your own parents — those emotions get heavier. Because asking for help bumps into history, roles, expectations, and old pain. All of these reactions are normal. They make complete sense. But when asking feels this loaded, it’s easy to avoid it. You push through, over-function, and put yourself last — not because you want to do everything alone, but because the emotions feel harder than the task itself. If this is you, try this small shift: Start by naming what you’re holding. It helps you see the load clearly instead of assuming you “should” manage it. Example: “I’m overwhelmed because I’m juggling the kids’ schedules, work deadlines, mental load, and no space for myself. I need support with the morning routine.” Simple. Honest. No self-blame. Then practice the smallest possible ask, for example: “I need you to help the kids get dressed.” or “Could you be in charge of cleaning the kitchen after breakfast?” If the emotional load around asking for help feels heavy for you, this is work we can do together.
