If we spend time a lot of time focusing on what mi If we spend time a lot of time focusing on what might go wrong, we could spend some of that time considering what might go right.

Excessive worry gives us tunnel vision. We seem to only be able to see the possible negative outcomes. We completely forget that there may also be possible positive outcomes!

Let’s say you’re worried that you’re not going to have enough time with your child after work to make them feel valued and loved.

This might lead you to worry that your last meeting might run over, your boss might ask you to do one more thing, there might be traffic on the way home, or your child might be already upset and cranky by the end of the day making quality time hard. These worries will likely fuel more worries and anxiety.

They are all possibilities, but what about the possible positive outcomes?

Maybe your child will be so happy to see you and spend time with you, even for 20 mins at the end of the day. Maybe they will throw their arms around you and want to tell you about their day.

You could think about short, fun and connecting activities that will allow both of you to relax and enjoy each other’s company, how good it will feel to cuddle them and see their smile when you tell them you missed them. You could think about how they will go to bed feeling loved after a short period of your undivided attention, or how you will create more time for them the next day as well.

Sometimes the positive outcomes are at least as equally likely as the negative ones! And what we choose to focus on can change how we feel and show up.

I had such a wonderful time presenting at the King I had such a wonderful time presenting at the Kingston Libraries event on May 7th, where we explored 3 Keys to Thriving in Motherhood. 🌸

As working mothers, we often feel like we’re surviving or just managing, rather than thriving. We may not even feel like we have the headspace to consider what thriving would look and feel like. So, it's wonderful that these women set aside this time to come along and learn how to make meaningful shifts in their lives.

The session was filled with fantastic conversations, shared experiences, and, most importantly, the reminder that we don't have to do it all alone. 🌿

Key Takeaways:

Understand that you are going through a deep and significant transformation - your matrescence. You are not, and do not need to be, who you used to be prior to motherhood. You are evolving and growing and sometimes it is confusing and very challenging. This is not a sign of your personal failing, you are going through something real. Give yourself compassion and embrace the growth.

Redefine success for yourself because the ideals around modern motherhood are unrealistic and unattainable. Holding yourself to this standard leads to guilt, shame, anger, isolation and lower self-confidence. The only definition of success that matters is the one that you choose, aligned with your values and what you feel is most important.

Give yourself permission to prioritise your needs and desires. You can look after yourself AND be a great mum and a good person. If we don't give ourselves permission, self-care makes us feel guilty. We first need to believe that we too, are a priority, not just because it helps everyone else when we are well, but also because as human beings we matter.

Thank you so much to everyone who joined me! 💖 If you missed the event, don’t worry—I'll be running more workshops and sessions soon. Stay tuned for more details. The next event will be in Lilydale in late June.

Let’s continue the conversation. 💬 What’s your number one challenge when it comes to thriving in motherhood? Drop a comment below!

By the time we become mothers, we know the expecta By the time we become mothers, we know the expectations well. Consciously or not, we are conditioned to believe that the perfect mother can have a successful career, cook homemade meals, keep the house spotless, be fully present with her children at all times, be endlessly calm and patient, look amazing, not need any help, and selflessly put everyone else’s needs before her own (and that’s not the full list!). But this mother is a myth. It’s an impossible standard that society has created and imposed on us. 🌸

This myth only fuels mum guilt and prevents us from feeling confident and embracing our authentic, messy, and imperfect journey.

Swipe to learn how the "Perfect Mother" myth feeds into guilt and how you can let go of these unrealistic standards. 👉

Ready to release the pressure and be the mum you want to be? 💖

The incredible, unwavering love we have for our children and the more difficult emotions motherhood brings like anger, grief, guilt, worry and resentment.

The many amazing acts of service and giving we engage in, and the exhaustion and deep need to receive for ourselves.

The transformative ways we have grown and the parts of us we’ve left behind.

Feeling overwhelmed by worry? You’re not alone. Feeling overwhelmed by worry? You’re not alone.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the “what ifs” and the future unknowns, especially when you’re juggling work, family, and everything in between. But the truth is, much of the worry we carry isn’t in our control, and it doesn’t need to take up space in our minds.

Take a moment to shift your focus back to the present—right where you are. Breathe in slowly, feel the ground beneath your feet, listen to the sounds around you. Simple actions like these can help you reclaim peace and calm in the midst of the chaos. 💫

Remember, you don’t have to fix everything, and some things can’t be fixed. Just focus on what you can control in this moment, and give yourself permission to rest in the present. You deserve peace.
